On Sunday, February 1 we will begin a new Bible Study series called "Daring to Draw Near” based upon the prayers of Biblical heroes.  Jesus, though he was God incarnate, felt it necessary to pray.  Mark tells us: “And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed” (Mark 1:35).  And Luke states: “In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God”  (Luke 6:12).  When the disciples saw John’s disciples praying, they asked Jesus to teach them to pray. (Luke 11:1).  If we, like the disciples, want to learn to pray then a good place to start is a study of the prayers of Biblical heroes.  In this study we will focus on the prayers of…

  1. Abraham - How big is your God?
  2. Jacob - What does it mean to pray through?
  3. Moses - What is your passion?
  4. David - What is blocking your prayers?
  5. Daniel - Does the Word drift over us as the world drifts by?
  6. Hannah - Is there a place for childlike prayers?
  7. Job - Are we more concerned about our reputation than the fear of the Lord?
  8. David - Are our prayers too narrow?
  9. Paul - How to pray for others?
  10. Jesus - Are our prayers “forgiveness prayers”?
